To answer this question it is essential to understand how the air conditioning system works
Compressed, high pressure, hot refrigerant gas flows into the condenser where it is cooled by the air stream and condenses into a liquid. This liquid passes through the expansion valve, reducing the pressure, and changing it back into a low pressure gas. When the pressure reduces like this the refrigerant becomes very cold and this is then extracted by the blower
Air con systems fail when any of these components fail and more commonly when the gas pressure is too low. The system commonly loses about 10% per year .
There are two tyres of gas 1234YF introduced 2015 and mandatory from 2017, and R134a the earlier form of gas which was replaced over environmental concerns.
The gases require separate installation machines and are not mixed. We can diagnose, repair and regas both types of system and if this is something you require or would like to discuss further then hit the button below.
